Three things to check out:
-The films of Alice Guy Blanche, one of the first people, along with Georges Melies, to see the artistic potential of cinema.
-The J Stuart Blackton short "The Enchanted Drawing". Really neat and cute special effects work, even if fairly shabby, still good looking and entertaining today.
-The Execution of Mary Queen of Scots-- Only a teeny tiny film, but very striking for the simplicity of it.
This reminds me I really need to see more early films (1890-1929) so I can split my 1895-1929 into two lists (1920s, and 1895-1919)
Thanks for the recommendations!
