just want to say your profile picture is really cool.

Oh come on, Fahrenheit 9/11? Moore's arguments are weak and scattered (as evidenced by the horrible attempt to bring them together at the end), his 'games' (this time, reading Patriot act to Congress) are stupid and inconsequential, his directing is twice as manipulative as Bowling, etc.

I loved Bowling, and Fahrenheit is a better-than-average documentary, but four and a half stars?

Anyway, all I really want is a quick elaboration (oxy moron?) on why you liked it so much :-)

So far I've seen about 5 bad reviews of The Passion Of Christ on Listology. Not counting the critical bashing it took. Yet I am asked constantly asked "Have you seen The Passion of The Christ". Should I watch it just to have watched it?

On a side note, I met someone on Saturday who said their fave movie was "Scooby Doo 2" and she was about 20. How cute is that. :?|

T'ho

:?)

That's probably the only reason I watched it. In a nutshell, it's about 30 minutes of story with 90 minutes of sheer, brutal torture, with not a whole lot of spirituality thrown in.

Watch the South Park episode on The Passion instead. :-)

Ah, Passion Of The Jew, tis a classic.

Thanks for the synopsis, I'm not sure if I wanna sit through 90 grueling minutes of blood n' guts.

T'ho

:?)

Did either of you happen to catch this back when I posted it?

Yep, that articles great and sad all at the same time. "Jerusalem Chainsaw Massacre". I will at no point ever want to see this movie. Yet I feel as if Mel's point was lost in all that gore. Surely he was saying "Rot you damn sinners, for this was jesus dying for your sins!" in a voice of belching hysteria and candid mysanthropy. But then again he probably missed the point that no matter how much fake blood you use it ain't the crucifixtion. It's sad that noone feels they can go to a shrink in our day and age.

T'ho

:?)

Now that I've seen the movie, the article really does make a lot of great points. Without a few (thousand) gallons of blood, and putting that 30 minutes of flagellation to better use (like, I don't know, maybe showing what a good guy J was), he could have made the movie that would have benefitted his audience, rather than nauseate them. Anybody else but Jesus and this film wouldn't have made it past the MPAA.

How'd you see 2046?!

Gotta love that ebay! A few folks overseas are selling the Guangdong DVDs for pretty low prices, and you end up getting what you pay for (the video quality is not so hot). So I ended up getting one for about $10, incl. shipping.

Wow, Before Sunset edged out Eternal Sunshine, eh? There's something poetic there, but I'm too tired to make something of it. Anyway, I'm glad you loved it so much. You're definitely not alone on that score 'round here.

Oh, I have Eternal Sunshine from Netflix, and I hope to get to it this weekend!

I had the benefit of watching both movies back to back, which probably helped put the second one that much higher. And it got me thinking about old acquaintances, and what they're up to now, and how we'd all get along nowadays....really, how can anything compete with that?

Will this be your first Eternal Sunshine viewing? Oh, to be able to see it again for the first time...

Yup, first viewing! I have a great set of movies from Netflix right now: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Infernal Affairs, and Maria Full of Grace. Wouldn't you know it, three movies I can't wait to see, and NOW is when I'm having a hard time carving out the time?!

Nice coincidence, I watched Infernal Affairs this weekend, and really enjoyed it. Hope you get the time soon!
