i think paul is currently winning by a nose im surprised tomorrow never knows is least favourite i happen to favour the more experimental songs myself it really proved what they were capable of
thanks for comments above didnt know the song was co written suppose it defeats the purpose of paul vs john (maybe i should change it to and)
I've always much preferred Lennon's work (as well as George Harrison's) over that of McCartney. True, they were both experimenting, but while McCartney was looking backwards to music hall and poppier, less interesting material, Lennon was most definitely looking forward (as was Harrison) and remains much more of an innovator, the single greatest example still remains Tomorrow Never Knows.
The innovation on Tommorrow Never Knows comes largely from Paul and is documented in many Beatle books. The tape loops were Paul's idea and he led their creation. He also played the solo(backwards on this song) and the hypnotic bass line repitition which goes so well with Ringo's drumming. John's contribution was the great vocal and the lyrics(which he took from Timothy Leary and the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
yep well spotted! that is correct, john wrote it with paul. I stand corrected!
But A Day In The Life was written by both of them!
