- My First Mister
Author Comments:
Some of the ratings on this list aren't right. They were made years ago and I don't agree with them anymore but I'm leaving them until I get around to a rewatch.

Nice to see a detailed list of 2001. Its my favorite year. Im new here and I actually just posted my first list and I chose 2001 as well. Mine is only at 20 though and just ranked 1-20. I actually forgot about some of those so might reconsider choices on my list. I will have to check out 'Harmful Insect' now as that looks pretty good. Im surprised that you didnt mention 'The Man Who Wasnt There' or 'Haiku Tunnel' anywhere on the list though. I am glad that you mentioned Session 9, Sorum, and Intacto. Why did you rate 'My First Mister' that harshly? I didnt think it was great, and a little too mushy, but I wouldnt go so far as to rate it a 1. Now, speaking of 1s and 2001, 'The Deep End' would be in MY 1 slot; that film was just excruciatingly bad.
Firstly, please excuse the delayed response. I've been off in a distant land. Don't want new listologists thinking we ignore messages or anything of the sort.
I'm actually not fond of this list. I wasn't keeping a detailed record/list of what I was watching and I didn't become an avid movie watcher until a few years later, so my 2001 list seems really weak to me. There are definitely a number of 2001 releases I need to see. I'll be sure to add The Man Who Wasn't There and Haiku Tunnel to the list.
I really couldn't stand My First Mister, as you can see. It's one big teenage angst cliche, which I felt was completely out of touch and seemed like something that would be found on the Lifetime network. Then again, I also really hated Harold and Maude, which is the same thing with the sexes reversed, so perhaps I just hate May-December relationship movies.
No probs. I wasnt necessarily counting on a response anyway. Youre right about the feel of My First Mister, but I cant directly compare it to Harold And Maude since Ive never seen that. For just getting into movies, you sure have seen *quite* a large number of them just for 2001 alone. You will love The Man Who Wasnt There. Be patient with it though...the best parts are more towards the end.
