I cant believe that no one mentions the Drummer for the Police Stewart Copeland. I see one Neil Pert vote. thank God people have brought up Buddy Rich. IN YOUR list it would have to be John Bonham.
also Art Blakey, Buddy Rich, Mike Portnoy.....
also i have to mention John Bonham, he is my favorite and among the best and most influential, as is Keith Moon.
please nobody say Dave Grohl....influential yes, good....far from. as is Ringo Starr, though much respect to both, they just are nowhere near the best.
he is fast and has good control, but past that he is nothing. His rudemental skills are nonexistant and the kid cant groove. his speed and control cannot pretend to make up for his short comings. though i must say he is the best punk drummer because unlike so many others he does have skill.
do you really think Travis could cover some jazzed out Coltrane with Elvin Jones on the throne? Or maybe some big band scores that buddy rich played? Could he really play through Rush's 2112 Overture/YYZ? Could he do half of this stuff? No. Could he throw on a marching snare and play some crazed DCI as Sexton and Blackwell can? the answer to all of these is a definate "no". Good, yes, great, far from and far from the best.
long live neil peart!!!
listen to "yyz", then listen to "o baterista" and then vote!
I will stick with rules you layed down and choose from your list. John Bonham hands down. Pure raw power.

Wow, you've totally neglected every jazz drummer therefore there should be no poll
Ginger Baker
Hello AAA, friend, now I must disagree with you, Travis Barker is the best drummer, I be is out.
