Pretty damn decent, but I feel that Grave of the Fireflies should be top 5. Also, a few movies I think you overlooked: Perfect Blue, Jin Roh, Project A-Ko, Escaflowne, Ah! My Goddess, Tokyo Godfathers.

Thanks eatpork. I'll look into those other flicks. :)

Spriggan, Roujin Z, and both Armitage movies are some I'd recommend. :)

Has anyone seen the new Satoshi Kon film Paprika?

Thanks, and no I haven't seen any of those.

Hurray, somebody gives some love to Lupin III! I have yet to not enjoy one of the many, many Lupin movies, they're great stuff. Really, Princess Mononoke as #1? It's good, no doubt about that, but I just have a harder time connecting with the characters in that than in most other Miyazakis. I do, however, give it respect, as it was the first anime I ever saw. Also, Akira. It's good, and breathtakingly beautifully done, but once again I find it a little hard to identify with the characters, seeing as they aren't really... well... moral lol. Absorbing plot, though. Sorry, don't mean to rag on the list, just giving my 2 cents, and of all on your list that I've seen I've loved, don't get me wrong. Ghost in the Shell... (Drools...) AWESOME series (the 2nd Gig anyways, haven't seen the first series), but a HORRIBLY unsatisfying ending. Love it anyways though =P

Thanks for the comments. Out of curiosity, what do you feel should be #1?

Um... good question. I'm really partial to Castle in the Sky and Howl's Moving Castle, but not one decisively more than the other. Also, I don't expect it really falls under "Anime" per se, but theres a great French movie, the Triplets of Belleville, which is animated and is very good. Even though it is in french, there is almost no talking throughout the whole movie, so that barrier is pretty superficial. The beginning is a bit slow, but if you tough it out it is pretty good imho. Hows that for answering your question without answering it? =)

Haha...I have heard of the Triplets of Belleville, but I've never seen it. I do intend to watch it eventually since I have heard really great things about it.

+ cat soup and mind game.

+ atama-yama

I've never seen those, but I'll try to check them out.

Full metal alchemist?(I'm not too familiar with anime, so maybe this isn't helpful at all:P)

Maybe so. I'll look into it.
