The Greatest Electronic Songs of All Time

Disclaimer: This is only opinion, though you may walk away with a new song to listen to. Oh and I'm not great at putting words on paper, but I want to get this out. Feel free to comment or if you have anything you want me to listen to.

1. Papua New Guinea by The Future Sound of London [1991]
What is there to be said about this song? This is what electronic was meant to be. Nothing else will ever come close. With a great vocal sample and a very prominent earthy bass, this song is a trip and a half.

2.Age of Love by The Age of Love [1990]

Released in 1990, this song clocks in over 6 minutes of amazing dancing music. The Age of Love was founded by members of another group called the BBE. That's why there aren't any other songs by the Age of Love. This song signified the birth of trance. With a great build in at two minutes, this song flies by. It's too bad this song isn't eight hours, I would listen to the thing all day.

3. Our Dream by Caucasuss [1996]

Fast paced, and great to dance to, Our Dream is like flying at a thousand miles per hour. With lofty strings and a sample that sounds like it's from U96's Das Boot track, this song bridges the Old Scene with the New One. Perfect for dancing in the countryside.

4. Halcyon On+On by Orbital [1993]

Starts off slow, in comes the bass plucking and away we go. Probably Oribtal's best work (In my opinion anyway) this song does not dissapoint. Not tripworthy, but very uplifting and great on a summerday with blue skies.

5. Teleport by Man with No Name [1994]

Oh my God. Tripworthy? Hell yes. This song hits you on so many layers with hypnotic and psychedelic sounds. A driving main layer makes for great dancing while great breakdown only compliments this already amazing track. I almost forgot to mention the oscillating layer that could have a song by itself.

6. Lepton Head Part III by Shakta [1997]

In some of the last days of Goa, this great track was released. Great Atmosphere and fun to dance to. At around 2.40 in the track, the main melody comes in, a sort of guitar thing. Really great to listen to. Another is the Deedrah remix of the regular lepton head song. They're close to the same but both great tracks.

7.Mahadeva by Astral Projection [1995]

Fast, complex and hypnotic, this song belongs on this list. An awesome memorable main layer with some great snare work and driving bass really send this track home. A snare roll here and there don't hurt, but you can really feel Astral Projection move far from Goa with this track.

8. Out of Space by The Prodigy [1993]

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. The Prodigy. Whatever, I still like them. Great to dance to, Out of Space samples the song "Chase the Devil" by Max Romeo and hits you with some choice ravey time rave samples. Rave! I tried to avoid bands like the Prodigy, but this song is back from their roots, before Kieth Flint got all scary on us. Other Tunes that are pretty good include: Charly, No Good and Voodoo People.

9. Ibiza by Amnesia [1988]

Gritty, hard and dark, "Ibiza" is nothing like the Island. Suprisingly, as one of the first hardcore songs, the beat is extremely slow, like 100 bpm slow. An aqquired taste for some, but a great and influential track nonetheless.

10. Red Herring by Union Jack [1995]

Acid! BRING ON THE ACID! The use of the TB-303 really brings a much needed element to Trance. The oscillating, trippy sounds of acid and an odd vocal sample adds to the hypnotic sound of this track.

Hopefully with more to come soon!

Classic trance! Good choice, dude.

"We Came In Peace"- Dance 2 Trance
"Dreams"- Quench

I have a feeling you're gonna love those 2. Check em ;)

We came in Peace is a good track, not my favorite though. I'll check out the dreams track!

Nice list, you clearly got good taste and that alone deserves and endorsement, but make this list bigger! Still, so far, very good take on things, a good variation of genres too. Get rid of Out of Space though, all the others are actualli GREAT, and if that's in there, it should be a "My Greatest" not "The Greatest" because all the others have had a large impact and influence in the development or growth of electronic music. Also, put some more techno, ambient, downtempo, minimal & house in here, and then you're sorted :D

Very good choices. I actually didn't know Papua New Guinea and Age of Love were that old. I better change my list now!
