Best punk bands. Ever. Period.

- SNFU (Society's No Fucking Use) - This band is just awesome. Their album "If You Swear You'll Catch No Fish" is pure genius.
- D.R.I (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) - Kinda thrash hardcore, the fastest band I've ever heard. Best album by far is "Dirty Rotten".
- The Clash - I dunno, they're almost anti-punk. The material such as White Riot and Tommy Gun is some of the best music I've ever heard, but some is just boring. "Sadinista!" is their best effort.
- Black Flag - Inventors of hardcore. Jealous Again and Damaged are both virtually perfect albums, in my eyes.
- Rancid - I know it's ska punk, but dammit it's still punk! One of the best songwriters I've ever heard, good ol' Tim Armstrong. Get "...And Out Come The Wolves". Now.
- Anti-Flag - I love this band. Way too much. Chris #2 is one of the best bassists I've ever heard, and they write choruses so catchy they must carry AIDS. "Underground Network" is my favourite album of theirs.
- NOFX - They have a bad rep, and I can't understand why. One of the best melodic hardcore bands there is. "Punk In Drublic", "White Trash, Two Heebs And A Bean" and "The War On Errorism" are all vital albums.
- Bad Religion - Save the best for last, eh? "How Could Hell Be Any Worse", "No Control" and "New Maps Of Hell" are amazing albums.

There's so many bands missing from this list I almost don't know where to begin. This is just the first wave:
X
The Stooges/Iggy Pop
Patti Smith
Television
Bad Brains
The Cramps
Pere Ubu
Husker Du
Gun Club
And The Clash of course, but you already mentioned them.
