  14. (10.18) [76] /Death Proof/ (2007, Quentin Tarantino) [dvd; home] ~ Was there a performer in this movie that didn't dive headlong into their roles? Great flick made better with addition of non-theatrical footage.

  21. (09.07) [61] Disturbia (2007, D. J. Caruso) [dvd; home] ~ The comparisons to Rear Window are apt but this movie carves its own little niche. Better than I would've guessed. A tasty nosh.
  22. (09.04) [55] Vacancy (2007, Nimród Antal) [dvd; home] ~ And this movie was made why, exactly? Who read this and said, "Now that's a home run!" Didn't the mediocrity jump off the page? Nimrod goes to Hollywood.

  31. (08.02) [75] Zodiac (2007, David Fincher) [dvd; home] ~ Some would say that this movie doesn't have a proper dénouement. I would not be one of those people.
  32. (07.29) [62] The Holiday (2006, Nancy Meyers) [dvd; home]
  33. (07.27) [53] Beerfest (2006, Jay Chandrasekhar) [dvr; home]

  37. (06.14) [??] Deer Woman (2005, John Landis) [dvd; home] ~

  41. (05.29) [79] Pan's Labyrinth (2006, Guillermo del Toro) [dvd; home] ~ This movie made me sad like Lars Von Trier's Dancer in the Dark.
  42. (05.23) [61] Jenifer (2005, Dario Argento) [dvd; home] ~ Jenifer is sure one unsettling chick. Kudos to KNB for the creepy makeup and Argento for keeping the tension up even when you knew how it was going to end.
  43. (05.22) [60] Dance of the Dead (2005, Tobe Hooper) [dvd; home]
  44. (05.20) [66] Spider-Man 3 (2007, Sam Raimi) [film; arena grand theater 6] ~ Didn't anyone see Sam and Ivan Raimi's last screenplay collaboration on Army of Darkness? Should that kind of writing get 250 million thrown at it?
  45. (05.19) [59] Chocolate (2005, Mick Garris) [dvd; home]
  46. (05.18) [54] Grandma's Boy (2006, Nicholaus Goossen) [dvr; home] ~ Completely ridiculous movie that made me laugh multiple times. Not for everyone.

  52. (05.08) [53] Sheitan (2006, Kim Chapiron) [dvd; home] ~ Some semi-interesting premises but in the end it wasn't worth watching.
  53. (05.05) [77] The Illusionist (2006, Neil Burger) [dvd; home] ~
  54. (05.02) [60] Smokin' Aces (2007, Joe Carnahan) [dvd; home] ~ Leaves the gates strong then races downhill into complexity and misanthropy. Carnahan's strong dialogue and the acting almost save it.
  55. (04.25) [65] /Map of the Human Heart/ (1993, Vincent Ward) [dvd; home] ~
  56. (04.20) [59] Blades of Glory (2007, Josh Gordon & Will Speck) [film; amc eastown town center 30, theater 2] ~
  57. (04.18) [73] This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006, Kirby Dick) [dvd; home] ~ Documentaries about how fucked up the MPAA is rock!

  60. (04.13) [65] Planet Terror (2007, Robert Rodriguez) [film; arena grand theater 2] ~
  61. (04.11) [73] Casino Royale (2006, Martin Campbell) [dvd; home] ~ A refreshing change of pace from the ridiculous and boring Bond films of recent years. The parkour sequence was incredible. Daniel Craig was great but Eva Green blew me away. If you like Daniel Craig see Layer Cake. If you like Eva Green see me, to discuss how hot she is.
  62. (04.07) [74] Wordplay (2006, Patrick Creadon) [dvd; home] ~ Documentaries about crossword puzzles rock!
  63. (04.07) [59] Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006, Liam Lynch) [dvd; home] ~ These guys tried way too hard to come up with new material for this movie. I think they should've went with old reliable. Although the music was still pretty impressive.
  64. (04.02) [77] Brick (2005, Rian Johnson) [dvr; home]
  65. (04.02) [55] The Sentinel (2006, Clark Johnson) [on demand; home]
  66. (03.28) [67] No Man's Land (2001, Danis Tanovic) [dvd; home] ~ Worth a look but best foreign film of 2001? Must've been a weak year.
  67. (03.25) [72] The Host (2006, Joon-ho Bong) [film; drexel gateway, theater ?] ~ Wow, was this a fun movie. The pathos, both heartbreak and humor, were more deeply felt than in a typical Hollywood monster movie. Let's hope if Joon-ho Bong ever makes a movie in the West he doesn't pull a John Woo.
  68. (03.20) [62] The Ordeal (2004, Fabrice Du Welz) [dvd; home] ~ A David Lynch film without the contrasting backdrop of normality that a Lynch movie typically provides.
  69. (03.14) [64] Unknown (2006, Simon Brand) [dvd; home] ~ The screenwriter deftly doled out pieces of the puzzle in this well-acted mystery but the ending was a little ambigious for my tastes.
  70. (03.10) [??] Poseidon (2006, Wolfgang Petersen) [dvr; home] ~
  71. (03.08) [65] 13 Tzameti (2005, Géla Babluani) [dvd; home] ~ Different then I expected but not quite as good as it could've been. May have been better as a short film.
  72. (03.04) [??] Red Lights (2004, Cédric Kahn) [dvd; home]
  73. (02.26) [67] Wolf Creek (2005, Greg McLean) [dvd; home]
  74. (02.26) [71] American Splendor (2003, Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini) [dvr; home]
  75. (02.20) [66] The Spiral Staircase (1946, Robert Siodmak) [dvr; home]
  76. (02.18) [78] The Departed (2006, Martin Scorcese) [dvd; home]
  77. (02.07) [??] Hostel (2005, Eli Roth) [dvd; home] ~ I'm not big on the horror-porn but this wasn't as graphic as I thought it might be but was still very graphic nonetheless. This movie actually had a story to tell which suprised me a little.
  78. (01.31) [64] Aragami (2003, Ryuhei Kitamura) [dvd; home] ~
  79. (01.29) [61] The Transporter 2 (2005, Louis Leterrier) [on demand; home] ~ Wow, I never thought I'd be seeing two Jason Statham movies in a row. Except for one horrible looking Visual Effects scene in the first act, the movie bravely suspends the disbelief in spite of the action on screen. It's been awhile since I've seen the first Transporter but I think this was better. Louis Leterrier's direction in this (and Danny the Dog) has a certain, how do you say...?
  80. (01.21) [57] Crank (2006, Neveldine/Taylor) [dvd; home]
  81. (01.17) [57] Idiocracy (2006, Mike Judge) [dvd; home] ~ Not great by any means clearly, given the '57', but this film has a sort of inspired lunacy to it. All of the actors were game and some of the jokes and sets were hilarious but the whole kaboodle suffered from obviously low production value. Recommended but keep your hopes reasonable.
  82. (01.15) [61] The Family Man (2000, Brett Ratner) [dvd; glenlaurel inn] ~ A lackluster beginning and a disappointing ending bookend the quite good movie in between. This movie helped me see what David Duchovny sees in Téa Leoni. What is it with Nicole Cage and the "man" movies? The Family Man, The Weather Man, The Wicker Man.
  83. (01.07) [68] Little Miss Sunshine (2006, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris) [dvd; home]
  84. (01.06) [78] Grizzly Man (2005, Werner Herzog) [dvd; home]
  85. (01.05) [63] The Descent (2005, Neil Marshall) [dvd; home]
