2012 Goals
SUCCESS! Read 150 books in 2012 Final count: 153
SUCCESS! Continue reading winners of the Pulitzer Prize Award for fiction (27 remain)
SUCCESS! Continue reading the full 16 vol. Richard F. Burton translation of One Thousand Nights and a Night. (progress is excellent - 7 vol. completed this year
SUCCESS! Read all Caldecott medal winners (not including Honor books)
SUCCESS! Complete Lillian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who" series.
2011 Goals:
°°° SUCCESS Read 200 books in 2011. Final count: 206
°°° SUCCESS Begin reading more children's books. They were the secret to my reading so many books this year.
°°° SUCCESS Continue listening to the audiobook recording of the Aubrey/Maturin Series (completed the full series!)
°°° PARTIAL SUCCESS Continue reading winners of the Pulitzer Prize Award for Fiction. I grew tired of reading so much fiction, to the exclusion of other types of reading. I am expanding to include several other genre of Pulitzer winners.
°°° PARTIAL SUCCESS Complete Lillian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who" series. I got distracted by other book series I started reading, but I did complete a few.
°°° FAILURE Continue reading the full Richard F. Burton translation of One Thousand Nights and a Night. It got boring.
Wisdom
Just because I begin a book, I am not required to complete it if I don't enjoy it. Life is too short and there is so much to read.
I must remember that not all reading pleasure comes from reading from the innumerable lists of "best" books.
I am moving the full extent of my books (read, reading and planning to read) from Shelfari (who has sold out to Amazon) to http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/4985011?shelf=currentlyoreading
