What I'm Listening to Today: 4/1/04
Legend soundtrack - 10:20 P.M. - This soundtrack from the eighties is timeless. Yes. It is timeless even though it is a soundtrack from the eighties. I know that might not seem possible, but this is such a splendid ethereal CD. "Is Your Love Strong Enough" is the first song on the CD, and what a way to start it off. Like the movie, this CD stays with you and lives in your memories, touching you as the movie itself had. The instrumental pieces are equal in measure of greatness, and the best song of all is "Loved by the Sun" with Jon Anderson singing lead. Not only is there no voice like Anderson's, there is no soundtrack like this!
Mike Oldfield - Songs of Distant Earth - 2:45 P.M. - This CD is very similar to the Legend soundtrack, which was written by Tangerine Dream. Both the last CD and this CD are composed of heavily atmospheric ethereal sounds. Many of you may recall Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells CD. (You know, the theme song from The Exorcist?) I would classify both the Legend soundtrack and this CD as Ambient music. Song number 4, "Magellan," totally blows my mind. If my mind were a ship it would be sailing. This music is so expressive.
YES - The Ladder - 3:55 P.M. - Song 2, "It Will Be a Good Day (The River)" is such a spiritually uplifting song. That is my favorite track on this CD. The music on this album makes me feel great.
