How can you not click through to read a great description of various film aspect ratios that points out the evils of pan-and-scan (Yokelvision) via The Evil Dead:

The top and bottom of the movie has been chopped off. Not only is the composition ugly now, but Bruce is also missing a part of his famous chin.
