1 in 12 books purchased are used, putting the used book market somewhere in the $2 billion neighborhood. That's a respectable neighborhood.
Apologies to my Republican friends, but this calls to mind a joke somebody e-mailed to me today:
Donald Rumsfeld is giving President Bush his daily briefing, and concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed in an accident"
"Oh No", the President exclaims. "That's terrible".....
His staff sit there, stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President slumps, head in hands.
Finally the President looks up and asks... "How many is a brazillion?"

This made me laugh, and that's difficult when it comes to Bush humor because everyday I hear smug, condescending academics make comment after comment about Bush's idiocy. I usually can't stomach it, and this from someone who never even thought about voting for Bush...
But I loved this joke!

Glad you like it! I'm getting lots of mileage out of it. I think it's gently humorous rather than smug, and it seems to go over well.
At the risk of dissing a president who isn't mine, that's definitely funny.
I like to think I would have posted it no matter which party were in office.
I think it's funny.
