I was guardedly excited about the idea of Tim Burton directing Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, but the teaser has taken the shine off a bit. I'm not sure why.
So unhappy. Why is Depp channeling Anna Wintour as his muse? I have deep (depp?) misgivings.
However the trailer for A Series of Unfortunate Events continues to slay.
Really? I haven't read the Snicket books, but the trailers don't do anything for me, other than look like Sonnenfeld-lite.
how you could be excited about anyone but gene wilder being willy wonka is beyond me, Same boat as planet of the apes... Tim Burton is just an idiot remaking good movies as terrible ones... but this looks worse than i had ever imagined... and that was the good stuff, the best stuff is always in the teaser... can't imagine what the other 2 or so hours is like.
Todd at Twitch has a different take. He loved the teaser.
I'm with you on this one Jim. Cool visuals, but I get a weird vibe from it. It reminds me of Barry Levinson's TOYS (1992). And what's with Depp's obsession with changing his teeth? The guy is a riot.
Oh, and that song just gives me the creeps.
