Toy Story 3 Axed

First order of business for Pixney? axing Toy Story 3:

According to Yahoo News, John Lasseter, former Executive Vice President of Pixar and new Chief Creative Officer of the new animation studios has put an axe to Toy Story 3, the Disney-motivated sequel to Lasseter’s first feature length Pixar films. The word is Lasseter said progress on the movie will end effective Tuesday, and that sequels should only be made when demanded by the story and should remain the domain of those who created the original film.

Hooray!

Yeah, there's a bet I lost as soon as I opened my mouth.

Well, at least there's a chance it may be a good movie now. :-) In addition to that nugget of info it was interesting to see that they want to start putting out 2 releases a year up from 1.

I don't trust them... either of them. I bet you that this is the first of a series of ever diminishing "artistic victories" for those at Pixar. The rodent will surely crush them... perhaps slowly, but certainly surely.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was just a turf war. I don't recall Pixar ever saying that a third Toy Story was a bad idea on its face.

I'll believe that the second Toy Story sequel has been axed when you bring me Tim Allen with an axe in him. That would fall under the "two birds, one hatchet" category.

Smoke and mirrors. I think they have to destroy the Disney version of Toy Story 3 before they can legally begin the development of the Pixar version.

I don't know what you mean by "smoke and mirrors" but I think you are right. It may not have anything to do with legalities but the destruction/revenge has begun.

Misdirection. Doublespeak. It has been my belief all along that Lasseter may sound like he doesn't want a Toy Story sequel, but he's not being entirely truthful. He doesn't want a Disney Toy Story sequel, but a Pixar Toy Story 3 has always been up his sleeve.

I dunno, it's not like Pixar has been clamboring to sequelize their other movies. Why start work on Toy Story 3 when The Incredibles begs for first sequel? Or A Bug's Life? Not that I want either of those to be sequelled.

For whatever else goes wrong at Pixney in the coming years, I bet no Toy Story 3 on Lasseter's watch.

I will take that bet.

...I'll even raise you a The Incredibles 2.
"Clambering" or "clamouring"? Because I think that Pixar has certainly been doing the former while purposely muzzling themselves on the latter.
I love the name "Pixney." But I'll also bet that they will become "Dixar" soon enough. Which may be the final cleaning of Lasseter's clock.

...tick tick tick tick

"Lasseter, the creator and director of the original Toy Story movies, has made no secret of his protective feelings for the successful franchise. In fact, he shared long ago with close associates a different story line that he envisioned as the final chapter in a trilogy."

Dang, wish I knew that yesterday!

There goes my HSX stock.

Hey, do you play the HSX?

(i do)

Shalom, y'all!

Yes, but badly.

I'm lbangs. Add me to your league, if you'd like. I'm not the best player, but I have sadly been at it awhile, so I have a little bit of faux cash...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Done. Compared to me, you're quite successful!

I thought it would put you in my league in return, or at least give me the option to add you, but it does not. Do you mind if I add you? I'll need your username, and if you don't want to post that in public, I can give you an email to send it to.

Or, if you'd rather not do either, that's okay too. I'll still like you. :)

I fear my cash stash is more a function of time than skill...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I'm the same there as here: "RosieCotton"

Added. For the month, you are kicking my behind (and that of everybody else in my league)!

Shalom, y'all!

That's just because I was the only one who had any faith that the Chronicles of Narnia would beat the Holiday Warrant. I bought low and sold very, very high.

I made a ton of dough by buying Narnia at twenty bucks a while back.

My finest hour, however, was buying Passion of the Christ at something like nine dollars and sitting on it until the cows came home. I cannot believe people thought it was going to bomb. Their mistake, my huge gain. :)

I didn't buy any Holiday Warrants this year, but I will probably pick up some Oscar Winners Warrants when they arrive. I usually makes me some monies on those!

Congrats on the nice Narnia haul!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I don't dare to ask, but what is HSX?

1922, the brute

The Hollywood Stock Exchange. You should play. I bet you'd be quite good at it. It's a pretend stock market with virtual "hollywood dollars." It's free.

Created account. Looks like fun.

Sounds cool. Thanks. Maybe I should try.

Hey, so do I!

Feel free to add me to your league if the whim strikes. You should be able to guess my user name... :)

Shalom, y'all!

I'm the same as on here as well, "dgeiser13".

::-) If you've seen any of the Disney sequels lately, you'd know that's a small price to pay.

Disney's Pixar acquisition is the smartest thing they've done since they started distributing Pixar films.
