IGN tells us that Matt Damon, Adrien Brody and Gary Sinise are in talks for the roles of Kirk, Spock and McCoy in the new J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek film. That's a lot of Oscar nominations for actors in a sci-fi film.
That's got to be total bollocks. Shatner and Nimoy were aged 35-38, and Kelley was 46-49 during the original series. The new movie is supposed to be a prequel to the original series. Damon is 37, Brody is 34, and Sinise is 52. How are they supposed to play Kirk, Spock, and McCoy's younger selves?
If Abrams is being absolutely true to the original series I think we're going to see an animatronic Kirk.
So... we are agreed that Halle Berry is Uhura, Mark Wahlberg is Chekov, Julianne Moore is Nurse Chapel. And Reese Witherspoon is Lieutenant M'Ress... Andy Serkis is Lieutenant Arex.
Ben Affleck had better be wearing a red shirt.
