So far, I love

So far, I love William Kotzwinkle. I can't remember laughing harder at a work of fiction than I did at The Midnight Examiner. So I tried Dr. Rat, looking for more of the same. At times morbidly funny, but mostly gut-wrenching. Highly recommended.

I've had one of his Fata Morgana sitting here for probably a year or two but haven't picked it up at all yet. Perhaps it'll have to go into the pile of things I'm likely to read soon.

You'll have to let me know what you think, as I've really enjoyed Kotzwinkle so far. In fact, I have The Fan Man on my to-read pile, but it keeps getting pushed down the list because I'm worried (for no particular reason) that I'll find it dated.

Just to say hi, this is a fellow Kotzwinkle fan. My name is Mish, short for Michelle. I love Kotzwinkle. If you haven't read THe Bear Went Over the Mountain, then you definitely need to. Before that book, I'd never laughed out loud at any piece of literature. I find it wildly entertaining. I've also read The Exile and The Swimmer in the Secret Sea by him. I too have read and own the Fan Man. It isn't out dated, and I could see how it could apply to anyone, even today. Just wanted to inform you of my smiliar interst. I'm curious about this book of his...the Midnight Examiner. Looks interesting, maybe I'll pick it up.

Hi Mish . . . Come create some lists! :-)

Thanks for the recommendation of The Bear Went Over the Mountain. Duly added. Do pick up The Midnight Examiner. Laugh-out-loud funny.

I'm not quite sure what I thought of it actually. It took me awhile to get into it, but towards the end I started wanting to see what was going to happen next. The ending (which I'll tell you nothing about) surprised me a bit. *shrug* I'll have to try one of his others at some point here and see how it compares.
