Robert Altman

Director Robert Altman died last night at the age of 81. IMDB lists his first directing credit in 1951. He has had a very prolific career in television and film. This abundance of work has led to some misfires but overall he has been one of the more consistent American directors in the last 35 years. He was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Director five times but never won. He received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Academy just this last spring.
