Paul Newman, great actor and even better person, has died at 83. Greencine has a wonderful collection of tributes and thoughts. Crushed. I'm going to go watch Nobody's Fool.

An Ask Metafilter user visits with Paul and Joanne and a Hole In The Wall Gang counselor provides some insight.
That whole Metafilter thread is great, thanks for passing it along. I like the post, "That's a guy that pretty much won life."
David Letterman remembers his friend
I've seen Letterman well up over four things: The appearance onstage of his doctors and nurses after his bypass surgery, his return after 9/11, Warren Zevon's final appearance, the death of Johnny Carson... and now a fifth time for Paul Newman.
"This was a legitimate 170 mph car. Now I don't know how fast Volvo station wagons are supposed to go..."
That was fantastic, I've watched it three times already. Thank you.
RIP. :(
Yes, this is very sad.
One of the greatest actors who ever lived.
He taught her how to clean fish.
