Retroactive Continuity

I was surfing around and I found this interesting article on Wikipedia about "retcon" (aka retroactive continuity). They provide examples from Comic Books, Television, Film, Literature, etc. across a wide number of genres. It's interesting reading and cool to see the great lengths that the varied writers on long-running series will attempt to maintain consistency yet provide variety and introduce new backstories to characters.
