In anticipation of their upcoming Prisoner mini-series AMC has made all of the episodes of the original series available online.
Thanks! I've been keen to see the original series but haven't gotten around to Netflixing it yet.
Wow, it's hard to believe they'd bring back such an old show. My dad once spent upwards of $100 to procure every episode on VHS. Such a unique and gripping show, very very cool stuff, but I can't see the 'new' series going over well. It is kind of like continually making new Star Trek series or Twilight Zone episodes, I think there's something in the 60's that resulted in unconventional and bizzare yet fun TV shows and films that can't really be captured in the modern day.
In Columbus, Ohio (where I live) The Prisoner has sort of a cult following. I don't know what it's like in other parts of the country. So I wasn't really suprised to see it being made. What did your Dad like about it?
I think just the feel of the show. My Dad's big into conspiracy theories, especially when it comes to politics, and he thought the show had a lot of truth to it (not that the island itself was real, but some of the other details, such as the scene showing the Russians and Americans working together). Plus it's different than anything else on TV.
On a sad note, Pat McGoohan just died :(
