Nothing New Under the Sun (Or On the Home Page)
Since I often suffer long lapses in posting new news to the home page, I'm starting to ask various other entertainment sites if they'd be willing to create syndicated content that I can automatically pull onto this page (in addtion to our hand-crafted content). So far I've sent an e-mail to Coming Attractions, but haven't heard back yet (if they agreed, I'd pull relevant news from their home page and repost it here (leaving the links to their content intact, of course)). Anybody else have suggestions for sites they'd like me to approach about setting up similar arrangements? I don't know if any of them will say yes, but it certainly seems like a win-win situation. Listology gets fresh home page content, and the syndicators get free links back to their full articles.
Jim, I personally don't care too much for this idea. I don't think the news content that would show up in the front would be as nearly as interesting as that which we post ourselves.
Okeedokee, I'll back-burner this. I do have a lingering concern about the sometimes-long gaps between posts. I worry that folks that come to the home page for the first time will think, "oh, the site hasn't been updated in a month!" when in fact it's just that the news hasn't been updated -there are new or updated lists every day.
if you could work the date for each into the "recent updates" that would be something on the front page that shows that things are indeed changing :)
