New Confusing Feature

Y'know how when you make a discussion post you have to check by hand the "check here to be e-mailed responses to this post" checkbox if that's what you desire? Well now there's a preference you can set that will result in that box being checked by default. Go to My Menu, Profile, and check the box labelled, "Check here to receive e-mail copies of responses to your discussion posts by default." Quite a mouthful, huh?

One more thing:
My 'Every Movie I've Ever Seen' list appears fine. But, when I highlight the changes, the introductory note (which I recently modified) becomes a list item so it looks like "1. _Ratings are constantly being tweaked..." instead of just "Ratings are constantly being tweaked..."
Yeah, change highlighting can cause some funky formatting. It's been on the "to fix" list for an embarrassingly long time. Thanks for the heads-up though!
Oh, and Jim:
regarding the confusion resulting from 'all' under 'recent updates' not being 'all,' perhaps this might help:
Don't change 'all' to a more accurate but length term, just switch the places of 'all' and 'other' so that the meaning of all can be inferred to be "all of the preceding categories (movies, books, music, television)" and 'other' can be inferred to mean "everythign else after those categories."
Yeah?
Excellent! Done.
lol, that was quick :-)
Can I get a Oh Stook, secret ruler of the universe, your greatness is as blinding as the sun, your body a work by Michaelangelo, your smell that of roses! e-mail every morning. ;?D
Just checking.

Aw c'mon, you don't really need to be reminded of that, do you? It's kinda like getting a reminder message telling you your height and weight. Wouldn't you rather be reminded of something not patently obvious? :-)
Aw shucks, be careful or my gigantic, inflated head may not fit (proverbiably) into listology anymore.

To actually answer the question at hand, I check my e-mail on an irregular basis. ie. Lazy e-mail checkers such as I generally don't need e-mail notification, but...I quite like the suprise of finding responses to my posts when I'm on listology.
I do have one issue however, I have to go through my menu to get to my profile, something that doesn't jive with my laziness.
And...I have a specific number of people I have endorsed but I have to go to member directory every time I want to look at their content. Could you make a feature involving those names being tops on the member directory sub-menu when I open it? Or could you put them on my "My Content" page?

I actually think all your needs could be met much more efficiently by using your browser's bookmarks. Would that work for you?
hey man, my requests weren't terribly unreasonable, I didn't think...
No, I'm being semi-serious. Wouldn't that be nice...for about the first 2 weeks, then it'd probably get kinda of annoying.
Don't mind me.

I'm sure there's some kind of free 'daily email reminder' service you can customize to say that to you every day.
Also, it would be nice if emailed responses contained the message being replied to in addition to the actual reply.
I'll add this to the wishlist.
Hurray! Thanks, mate!
Except now, I have the opposite problem: I forget to un-check the box for posts that are under my Listology items (since I can see new posts for those on the My Content page anyway).
Perhaps the best solution would be to indicate unread posts on the Post History page? What do you think, Jim?
Personally I don't mind getting e-mails for my own lists, because I tend to use my Eudora inbox as my "need to reply to this" list rather than looking at the yellow icons on "my profile." I know that's just me, but between that and having the ability to uncheck the "e-mail responses" checkbox on a case-by-case basis, I'm going to put further changes in this arena on the back burner (sorry!).
Flagging unread posts on the Post History page is tricky, if I understand you correctly. By that I assume you mean you'd want to go to another Listologist's Post History and have all the posts you haven't read by highlighted, right? The thing that makes it hard is everytime somebody posts something, I have to add a "read status" record to the DB for EVERY user, and then change a user's given record when they read a post. So that's 3000 or so DB records for each and every post made to Listology.
No, I meant for YOUR OWN post history, there could be yellow icons next to topics that had a post since you last read it.
