Need Movie Outing Advice!

So I might be able to sneak out for a rare theater visit this evening. I want a blockbuster. Spider-man 2 and The Bourne Supremacy are off the table, as my wife wants to see those too. That leaves I, Robot. So what do y'all say? Worth the $9.50 to see it theatrically?

Thanks for the advice everybody! Unfortunately my plans on this front fell apart. Sorry to waste everybody's time. Next time I'll make sure my plans are ironclad before soliciting help.

boo, hiss... :-)

:-) I know, I suck. I really thought I was going to make it happen though! On the bright side, Bourne Supremacy plans might be materializing before my very eyes, but I make no promises.

No, I, Robot is not worth $9.50. It's not bad, but I definitely would have felt pretty rotten if I'd paid nearly $10 instead of the matinee price of $5.50.

The only real blockbuster that's still out, that's good and isn't Spider-Man 2 or The Bourne Supremacy is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. If I had seen the 2nd Harry Potter film (which I haven't) and I was in your shoes that's probably what I'd go see. Just because I wouldn't want to see Dodgeball or Anchorman by myself because they're good to see with someone.

BTW, I haven't seen I, Robot yet either.

$9-freakin'.50?

Yes indeedy. Most theaters around here are $8.50, but the one with great sound, huge screens, and stadium seating is $9.50. Oo, wait, maybe that's with the movietickets.com surcharge, which I use when I think I show might sell out. I'll have to get back to you next time I go there.

I checked. $9.25 for prime time, $6.25 for matinee. That does NOT include the movietickets.com $1/ticket surcharge.

I enjoyed Anchorman quite a bit. I'd recommend it, especially if you were around in the 70s. Didn't see Yo Robot though.

I think I liked "Anchorman" better than "I, Robot", but both are slow starters. You have to give them a chance. And I don't know if you're a Will Ferrell fan, Jim, but if you don't like his brand of humor, definitely skip it.

"I, Robot" might take a while to warm up to, but I think it's an above-average action film. I might have been having an off-day, but the twists genuinely surprised me. I think the last action scene is really thrilling. But $9.50? I dunno...

Yeah, I guess I'm considering Anchorman as well. I've somehow managed to not see any Will Farrell to date: no movies, no SNL. Wait, I guess I did see him in the Austin Powers movies. Was he the guy that got dumped out of his chair and burned to a crisp?

On the trailer front, I definitely found the I, Robot trailer more compelling. Do you think the Anchorman trailers were well representative of the movie?

Didn't see I, Robot. Anchorman has some big laughs, and lots of jokes that fall flat. The best Will Ferrel movie so far is Old School.

I'd do Dodgeball before Anchorman.

Oh yeah, good call. "Dodgeball" is better than "Anchorman." Of course, the former might not still be playing, and hell, it's probably too late now anyway.
