The long weekend is upon us (at least here in the U.S.). Since I am (somewhat guiltily) a summer-movie kind of guy, in what order should I see these (assuming babysitter availability allows me to catch them all on the big screen): The Patriot, The Perfect Storm, and Chicken Run?

I finally saw Chicken Run, and I loved it (sorry to be so unoriginal). I can see why I have yet to find a negative review of it.

I caught Chicken Run last weekend, and I believe it may well be my favorite film of the year so far! Yep, that's a recommendation!

Anything else come close? What are the other candidates?

Off the top of my head, other films I have enjoyed this year include Erin Brockovich, American Psycho, Ghost Dog, and Black and White. Perhaps Erin is the only other film that I enjoyed about as much as Chicken Run. I have not seen High Fidelity, Judy Berlin, or Time Code yet, but I hold out some measure of hope for both of them.

I may think of more later. Just avoid Mission to Mars.

so, what did you see?

Alas, I failed to make it away from the cursed time sink (the house, which we are painting this summer). Chicken Run is at the top of my list.

Put down that paintbrush for just a couple hours and have a laugh at Chicken Run! The visual gags are more for adults than kids, and who can resist hen with teeth?? So what if, as a friend complained, the movie telegraphs its punch lines well in advance? Some good dialogue, and more engaging characters than most summer movies. Enjoy!

Chicken Run, definitely. Then again I haven't seen the other two. But how can you pass up quality claymation!

Whew! Checking Rotten Tomatoes for each (1, 2, 3), the choice seems obvious.
