Listology Updates

Tags:

I just posted several updates to The Listology. Nothing major yet, but some stuff that had been bugging (ha ha) me. I'll post details under "read more." Please shoot me an e-mail if you notice any bugs. Happy Thanksgiving!

thanks for the improvements, jim--some of those things you fixed i think i was subconsciously hoping for and didn't even realize it! at any rate, i do appreciate your managing to make listology an even better place to be.

also, for the editor in me, i wanted to let you know that the word "visitors" needs another I on the Recent Visitors link. :)

thanks again! hope your thanksgiving was a blessed one.

Thanks for both the compliments and the correction! Unfortunately, I recently suffered a major computer crash, and I haven't quite reinstalled everything yet, so I can't FTP the fix up. But it's just a matter of time. Happy holidays to you and yours!

Here's the detailed list:

* I finally cleaned up ALT tags so it doesn't say "endorse" when you hover over most buttons.

* I added the ability to clear out poll votes. This allows the owner to change a poll and get a new set of results. For example, I haven't been able to vote on this frequently updated poll for months. But if kbuxton clears old votes when she updates the poll, I'll be able to cast new votes.

* Somebody wrote, "It seems a little strange that you alphabetize the results of a poll when you view them. If you're going to change the order at all, I'd suggest changing it to be most votes to least. I fixed this so the ordering stays consistent.

* I updated the nightly e-mail to not include archived items.

* Somebody wrote, "I was wondering if it would be possible to make displaying comments part of the preview. If I'm the only person who's ever asked for this I understand why it won't be implemented just yet. But perhaps you throw my hat in the ring in support of the idea." Many folks requested this. It's finally here.

* Somebody wrote, "If you've clicked "view" on one of your lists it'd be nice to have a link somewhere that let you "edit" that without going back to "My content." Done! If you view one of your own lists from "my content", you'll see an "edit" button.

* Somebody wrote, "As I'm getting old and senile I sometimes forget the locations of recent comments I've made at TL. It was easy to find my history at the old TL, but not so at the new. Am I missing something obvious? It wouldn't be the first time." Nope, wasn't there. It is now. If you click on "my content", the link is now in the introductory text.

* The custom genre labels weren't spaced appropriately. They are now.

* The SPOILER tag didn't used to work in a list body. It does now.

* The search form now uses the "GET" method, which means the search query will show up in your browser's URL bar. This should make it much easier to build links to search results.

thanks!
