i just want to say Amelie was so robbed!!!

Have you seen No Man's Land?

My first reaction is sure, Amelie was robbed. But the anal-retentive critic in me forces myself to admit that I don't really know if that's the case, since No Man's Land hasn't opened up in my quaint little city yet.

I'm assuming with all the nominations and hoopla Amelie received, an awful lot of people must have been rather impressed with No Man's Land for it to have snagged the award.

The truth is, I just don't know.

Shalom, y'all!

Here are my observations on last nights Oscar Show.

1.It was nice to see Jennifer Lopez try to honor Bernadette Peter’s legendary hairdo from The Longest Yard. Lord knows what was living in that do of hers.
2.Uma, oh my…Motherhood has had a profound effect on you I see. I really want to know how Ethan Hawke got the bruises on his face.
3.Has Halle Berry stopped thanking people yet? And has she thanked Billy Bob yet?
4.Thank God Russell Crowe did not win the Oscar. We already got our lecture on how to live our life from Robert Redford. Now it starts out by being a multi-millionaire and then feeling bad for the little people or something like that.
5.Opie has done well for himself. Ron Howard from all appearances is one of the classiest acts in Hollywood and I was happy for him.
6.I would give my left testicle to look as good as Sidney Poitier when I turn 75. Hell I might give them both to look that good now.
7.So how pissed do you really think Whoopi Goldberg was at Halle’s self-implosion and self aggrandizing performance? Yeah sure thanks for kicking the door down Halle…
8.Denzel. A class act. A deserving award. Sometimes the Oscar’s get it right.
9.Jim Broadbent has to be considered the biggest upset but if ever anyone deserved an award for the culmination of his work, Jim is the man.
10.Jennifer Connelly, eat something girl.

Great comments. Apparently, Halle Berry has been hard at work for 75 years to shatter this ceiling for all African-Americans.

Redford didn't bug me. I hate Whoopi as a host (although take that with a grain of salt - my favorite hosts of the last ten years was David Letterman).

Woody was a pleasant surprise.

Boy, those film clips were often horribly put together. Nora Ephron has proven she's a one-trick pony (the script for When Harry Met Sally was great), but she has never proved she can direct. Or edit. Or, obviously, make a decent clip compilation.

Ron Howard's a nice Okie. I can't get too upset. It isn't like Lynch had a chance, is it?

Gwyneth, I'm sorry about the head injury, but didn't you have *any* friends to warn you away from the dress? You usually pick out such nice outfits...

Shalom, y'all!
