Listology Favorites

I recently deployed a feature that allows you to flag lists as favorites. Just open up the list and click the "Favorite" button! I've picked a few myself, but it's definitely a work in progress. Next step will be to build some tables of "most favored lists", "most recently favored lists", etc. So there ya go, time to start picking through Listology with a fine-tooth comb to flag the good stuff!

Holy crap J, I'm not sure whether to be flattered or slightly frightened by the inclusion of all those lists. :?)
Cool feature too.

:-) Yeah, the "series" lists do present a problem when trying to pick favorites. What I should probably do is pick my favorite years of the bunch, but then if I do that you'll go and write something great in one of the years I haven't picked. I dunno; definitely something I'll waffle on for some time.
I guess what I could do is totally overhaul Listology to allow groupings of lists into serieses, and then you could just pick the whole series... Nah, who'm I kidding? No way I'm tackling an architectural rebuild at this stage of the game.
Anyway, great lists!
I could set up an index page with links to every one . I've been thinking I should do something that inane for a while.
Thanks, a compliment is never wasted on my burgeoning ego. ;?)

You haven't worked Favorites into the star rating system, have you? I'm not sure if it's a good idea. For example, in the mini-review realm, you and stooky have your reviews spread out into a couple dozen lists, while AJDaGreat and jcandag have them in about 5 lists - so for people selecting whole series' of lists, those who like to seperate their content into dozens and dozens of lists would have an 'unfair advantage' over those who conslidate their lists.
Just thinkin' out loud. I don't know how much people care about star ratings around here, anyway.
Yeah, I won't factor it into the ratings for that very reason.
Right on.
That came faster than I anticipated! Neato! Thanks, Jim! The unexpected joys you give us every now and then is a compelling argument against revealing your 'to do' queue.
Alas, most of my favorite lists exist in several dozen parts, and I'm not about to go through selecting 100 favorites. It'd be cool to be able to designate some kind of 'series' as a favorite, but that'd almost certainly be more trouble for you than it's worthy.
Yeah, I danced around that problem for awhile, and still haven't come up with a good solution.
Maybe what I'll do with this is make it possible to go into some kind of "favorites" mode on the search results, which would allow you to check off a bunch at once. Would that do the trick for you?
Oh certainly, but was the favorites feature meant to work with a Listologist having 300 favorites?
Fini. When you do a search and get the results you will see a new checkbox in the search box labelled "add favorites". Check that, re-run the search, and checkboxes will appear next to each list in the search results. Check the ones you want to favoritize, and then click "add favorites". Or, if it's a multi-page set of results, just check 'em off and go to the next page. They'll be saved automatically. For example, here's the search I used to add stooky's "tier" lists to my favorites. Note my newfound dominance of the "Recently Favoritized" table.
But why, when I do a search for "Movies Sorted By Tier" with no qualifiers, do I get no results?
What the heck? 2 seconds later, it's working fine. Hmmm...
Nice! Works like a charm. And the add favorites button is sexy. Thank you once again, Jim.
:-) You're welcome.
Sure, what the heck.
Well, ok, then.
Do we get to choose whether or not to use the extra "u" as they do across the ocean?
Maybe I'll go for full-on internationalization so you can make it "favorito". :-)
