KITH

In case you didn't know, the comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall are on tour. My wife and I (and 4 friends) were lucky enough to see them here in Columbus, Ohio last Sunday Night. It seemed like all the material was brand new, although they did have a recurrence of a number of KITH characters including Gavin, Kathie with a K and Cathy with a C, Buddy Cole, Darrill and The Head Crusher. I probably haven't held a 90 minute grin like that in a very long time. All of them seemed very relaxed and having a helluva a good time. And they all broke character at one time or another and made some very funny asides. Tickets were very reasonably priced and we managed to get tickets in the 6th row past the mosh pit. If you have a chance (at all) you should go see them. Seek them out...now!

Hey, I saw them in Vancouver. And I paid a lot more than $36 because the Ticketmaster route was sold out. It was worth every penny, though, because as you said, it was grin-worthy from beginning to end. The Head Crusher even got *this* close to crushing my head. He crushed the guy 2 seats away from me. I was sitting 4th row from the stage and could barely contain my excitement.

My favourite was Mark McKinney's literary-style recitation (oration?) about walking through the dark, dirty alleyway, etc. A bit strange, a bit unexpected, and not funny in any kind of traditional sense, but that's KITH, isn't it?

Plus, I have a new saying now, thanks to Buddy Cole:
"I'm sweating worse than Tom Sizemore on day four of a crystal meth bender. And I smell like the whore he's pissing on!"

Awesome! Yes, the front rows got the head crushing treatment. Did they do the thing where The Head Crusher made fun of them for all of their post-KITH career moves?

They did. No mention of Newsradio, though, otherwise I think Dave would have to have been spared the crush treatment. :)

I've been working through the seasons of their show on DVD recently, just hilarious.

I'm glad you're enjoying them. How recently did you start watching any Kids In The Hall?

I bought S1 about six months ago, I hadn't seen it at all before that. Since then I've also got S2 and S3. I've yet to see S4-5.

Excellent. So how did you hear about them?

I was looking up Dave Foley on Wikipedia and came across The Kids In The Hall, I'd vaguely heard of them but I had no idea what they were. I did some research and after deciding they sounded like my kind of comedy I ordered S1 of their show. And the rest is history.. :-)

They popped up here in Austin this week, but unfortunately even $36-50 is too much for me & the wife right now.

Funnily enough they actually mentioned Austin at the end of the Columbus show. They said they were going to Austin next for some barbeque.

We had the $36 tickets but I can understand how that might be too much for some. My wife bought tickets for me for my birthday and I think the last live event I attended was a Tenacious D show about 5 years ago.

I'm going to try and write up a set list here shortly for those who are interested.
