John Peel has died at the age of 65. While he was probably the most popular DJ in England (though he started his radio career in Dallas), he is perhaps best known in America for releases of in-studio recordings with various bands usually titled, "The Peel Sessions." His influence on popular music tastes, especially in the UK, is difficult to over-estimate. He is missed.

That's the end of an era. It really sucks.
I used to judge whether a band was worthy of my time by whether or not they'd done a Peel Sessions...
The Peel Sessions releases were such terrific ideas (and often music). I hope something emerges to fill this vacuum.
Shalom, y'all!

Damn, L. You beat me to it. Tragic loss at a semi-young age.
Sorry!
John Peel has always been there (in my world, at least). It will take some time to get use to his absence.
Shalom, y'all!
