It seems fitting that on turning 30 I sat around and read Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone - a book that made me feel young again. :) Absolutely wonderful. Listworthy, and worthy of the hype (and did you notice the 2300+ reviews on Amazon?). And I was pleased to see such a cogent defense raised against the inevitable backlash.

In my neck of the woods it's HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE that's high in the best-seller lists. Of course, "philosopher's stone" relates to alchemy rather than philosophy, because what we now call 'science' was once called 'natural philosophy'. So far I've resisted the urge to Potter around, but your enthusiasm might do the trick.

Yeah, I was kinda irked by that Americanization, because the term "Philosopher's Stone" actually has mythological and alchemical (?) significance, while the term "Sorcerer's Stone" does not (as near as I can tell).

But do check it out. It will take you all of two hours to read, and I'd love to hear your review.
