It is indeed a beautiful day. Tonight, Friday, February 2, 2001, the Independent Film Channel is showing both of my very favorite films of all time (Amateur and Simple Men) in a row. Yep, they are even showing Amateur, which as far as I know is the first time in at least five years this film has been shown on American television. If you have ever been curious about the films on my lists, I plead with you to check these fine movies out. Amateur is perhaps a bit more accessible to those new to Hal Hartley's world (not to mention probably my favorite of the two), but while they are not to everyone's taste, they are both wonderful, under-rated films that have been viewed by too few. Check them out and enjoy!
