I've seen the trailers and I've read some reviews and Bong Joon-Ho's Gwoemul (aka The Host) has officially rocketed to the top of my I-Have-Got-To-See-This-Movie list. It looks like South Korean filmmaking has finally made a movie that can rival (or top) Hollywood's Big-Bad-Monster movies.

Saw this over the weekend at the Vancouver International Film Festival. I really enjoyed it, although it didn't completely blow my mind as I had hoped it would.
Cool! I don't know if I was looking for it to blow my mind or not but I'll definitely temper my expectations so I don't end up ruining it for myself. :-)
I noticed that WETA workshop made the monster. Cool.
Doubleplus cool. When I saw Weta in the pseudo-credits I was expecting good things and I wasn't disappointed. I believe the effects overall are being handled by John Cox's Creature Workshop, The Orphanage and Weta. I also thought I read someplace this is the most expensive Korean film production ever mounted but I can't find my source so I could be wrong.
I'm so glad WETA is not letting all those computers go to waste.
