Han Shoots First: Unadulterated Star Wars on DVD

Tags:

Netflix has pretty much eliminated my DVD purchasing (except for the kids), but I may have to take the "limited time only" hook on the unadulterated Star Wars editions on DVD. Lucas had vowed the original cuts wouldn't see the light of day on DVD, but I guess there's no ignoring what promises to a sizeable payday (thank goodness).

Btw, has anybody heard the news regarding the release of the original trilogy on DVD? The scoop can be found here, with follow-ups here and here. Warning: Lucas strikes again.

Oo, thanks. See the home page.

That's pretty cool. I'll bet they'll look great on the store shelves as I pass them by.

Hey wait, did you write the same thing when I posted awhile back that the Star Wars DVDs would be the bastardized editions only?

If it wasn't you, it was somebody. Pretty funny either way.

You know, I may have, as it's become my standard reaction to multiply-released sets like this. And you can probably expect the same comment when they're released in several HD-DVD versions. :-)

It's certainly a reaction I can relate to! If Netflix hadn't already knocked me off the movie-buying bandwagon, then paralysis from fear of some-future-great-edition-that-I'd-want-instead would have.

I think I'm going to completely sell off my meager DVD collection via ebay or something before the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray wave hits, so I don't see all those inferior discs sitting on my shelves taking up space. And then I may never buy movies again.

I have had similar thoughts!

Just when i thought he wouldn't get any greedier, i guess he has a million dollar a week coke habit or something.

Jim, I swear you are always one step ahead of me. I just read the news about the "original" DVDs and came over here to tell you about it. :-)

:-) Nah, it's just that great minds think alike (or at least read the same blogs).

Hmmm, I wonder if Netflix is going to rent these. Anyone know?
