The BIG NEWS today is that this is the first anniversary of my membership here at The Listology. On 01/16/2000, at this list, I had the brass-bound hide to ask Jim if his lists were for real or just designed to attract comments. I'm thankful that he ignored the implied insult and gave me a friendly answer, and I'm very happy to say we are still friends. I look forward, as we all do, to seeing The Listology (The New Listology) flourish and grow during the coming year.

Happy anniversary from me also. Even if I don't contribute much I still read through the lists at least once a week. I recall your question to jim regarding his list. It appears my own one year anniversary will be next week (2/1/01).

sk, it's your anniversary. Have a happy one. Jeez, I'm getting a bit misty here.

Seriously, we don't hear from you enough. [Just between you and me: The New Listology is actually going to be Bertie's Listology. I've pulled off that coup we used to talk about, and "Jim" will just be my front man from now on - in fact, he's now really just a sub-program in the new version (full prog. to be applied any day now). Pretty lifelike, don't you think?]

I prefer "automaton" to "sub-program". :-) And this does help explain the little antenna I can feel at the base of my neck. I was wondering how that got there . . .

My home machine is giving me some tech. problems and I have been very budy at work. Since Jim is now only a sub-program he would not have been interested in "All the Pretty Horses." I love to find a film that I enjoy that the critics have hammered.

15th??? OOPS! Well, it is the 16th already where I live.

Happy anniversary! Sorry about the US-centric date. Perhaps in the new version I'll try to track your geographic location based on IP address, figure the timezone, and set the date accordingly . . . Mmmmaybe not (replies will start showing up before questions, which will be very unnerving :-).

BTW, I'm thinking the new version will be up by March 1.

BTBTW, I just added More Than Human to the list you mentioned. Fire Upon the Deep will be the next science fiction I read.
