Oscar-winning director Anthony Minghella has passed on. No details yet on the cause, as if it matters. Bad news sure travels quick and I sincerely hope I'm not contributing to it by mentioning it here.

The BBC is reporting it was a haemorrhage. He had had surgery for cancer of the tonsils and neck just a few days ago. He was only 54.
