Author Comments:

I am not really an uneducated slob, but sometimes I feel like one. I am trying to remember all the things I was supposed to have read in my time, and I am afraid my actual reading has come up short. My goal is to rectify that this year. Highlighting means I read it and remember the content in general.

All of this! This is good if our teachers in high school made us read like 4 books... (They were realist.) Do you read some of them finally?

I have actually read the majority of it. Some of it we read in class, especially the poems and the plays. For some things I remember the title, but not the content. I have made it a project this year to go back and review what I remember reading in high school and college and make sure I got what I was supposed to get out of both experiences. In high school I took four years of English and four years of French, so I was bombarded with literature from two directions. I plan to reread the French literature in English, as any French I once learned has long since left me. Germinal was pretty much incomprehensible to me even when French was fresh in my mind.
