Yummy... Some of my favorite albums are in here.
Yeah, after a look at your top CDs (and Scaruffi's, I might add), I added quite a few. Should have Rock Bottom coming in soon.
Ahhh...Rock Bottom
One of the true artistic miracles of the last century...
Agreed. The Sea Song is the only song I've got any sort of grip on, and it is brilliant.
Just bought VU & N too, I think I've got most of Scaruffi's top 10 now.
Oh good! Sounds like you've got some amazing experiences ahead of you, though be warned: even if some of them are awfully challenging, and seemingly impenetrable just keep coming back to them while simultaneously expanding your choices into his other top selections (rock and jazz). That's what I did and it worked. I advise tackling the albums per my "recommended order" as well--it makes the ride quite a bit smoother.
I certainly love your list, now a combined best/order to listen to. I'm still taking the ones I think I can handle, hence while I can easily and surprisingly cheaply grab Twin Infinites and Geek the Girl, I won't for now.
Understood. Twin Infinitives is quite a behemoth to tackle, but Geek the Girl isn't too tough. It's one of the least challenging masterpieces to me. It did take quite a few listens for me to consider it a true masterpiece on the level of the other 9/10's but I certainly loved it immediately and found it to be an 8/10+ album from the very first listen.
Even then, I don't think I'd quickly gel with that type of album, so I'll stick with "safer" stuff.
I got ya. It is extremely naked emotionally, dealing not only with Germano's own deep-seated scars, but drawing a devastating parallel and portrait to that of the entire female race.
Sea Song is in my opinion amazing, the second best song of the album. I think it's the one that enjoyed the most success as well considering you can find videos of Wyatt performing it unlike the other songs on the album. On almost any other album Sea Song would be the best song but on this album there is Alifib/Alifie (I see them as really being two parts to one song) which i consider to be the best song of all time. Even the emotion conveyed in Sea Song is surpased by this masterpiece. Once you've got a grip with it I'd be surprised if you did not consider it in your top 10 songs of all time.
I did order it a while ago, but it has to come in from the US.
