Sorry to say this but how is..

William Orbit feat. Beth Orton - Water From A Wine Leaf

[Ambient House/Downbeat]? I would say it's textbook progressive house, have you got a different mix from the normal one? Apart from that though, great list!

Are you sure you've heard the original version? Or are you talking about the song that's looped on Ishkur's Guide for Electronic Music?

That version, my friend, is actually Spooky's Xylem Flow Mix- definitive progressive house. I don't understand why Ishkur didn't add that part in, but that's the version that plays on the music guide.

The original version is in fact more downbeat than ambient house. I didn't know this until I acquired the track myself from Beth Orton's greatest hits cd (her vocals are on the song, thus it also being included on her cd).

After that, I acquired the Xylem Flow Mix from William Orbit's single for "Water from a Wine Leaf," and I can't decide which one I like better... they're both extremely catchy...

But to answer your question- the original version is in fact very ambient house/downbeat and the Xylem Flow is the progressive version.

Jeesh... how many times am I gonna repeat that!?

Sorry, I'm a complete idiot regarding this. I have the Xylem full length mix, as well as of course the Northern Exposure mix, and of course the Ishkur loop. I do know that it's not the original that's just not me checking I do apologise.

Hahaha, no it's perfectly fine :]

Wow, excellent list. I sorta agree with you on most, and some of these songs are the best I've ever heard, so great job:D. I can recommend kate havnevik - new day :)

Thank you for your lovely compliments!

As for your suggestion, I agree completely that it should be on this list! It's beautiful! It starts out seemingly enough like a Bjork-esque piece, then shifts itself into a complete Neo Trance gem- I love it. Thank you for that wonderful suggestion! :]

Thanks for the list dude, I quite like downbeat.

Oh, no problem! This list has been on here for a while, but I'm glad people are finally looking up on it! Seriously, if you have any suggestions, I'll look up on them!

I enjoy downbeat just as much as I do trance. :)

Well, keep an eye out for Abakus' That Much Closer to the Sun, it is fantastic.

Hey, I love this list. Like, I really love it, as downbeat (in the sense you mean) is such a kick ass genre, chill out music is way too underrated. How about...

Moby - In This World
The Sabres of Paradise - Smokebelch II (Beatless Mix)
Kinobe - Slip Into Something More Comfortable
The Avalanches - Since I Left You
Smoke City - Underwater Love
Nightmares on Wax - Les Nuits

Jakatta - American Dream
Delerium - Silence (Michael Woods Remix)

Hope you like em! :)

Thanx for the song suggestions Blind! I liked them alot! I think that Avalanches song is one of my new favorites!! It sure does get stuck in your head!

Since you liked my first suggestion I can give you some more... I'm not really an expert when it comes to genres though, so bare with me here :) Only some of these suggestions might fit in this list.

DT8 Project - One Further Thought (Succumb Reprise) [His Perfect World is great]
Massive Attack - Craig Armstrong
Imogen Heap - Speeding Cars

Jonas Steur - Sonrisa [TRANCE]
Poloroid - So Damn Beautiful [NIP/TUCK]
Dusty Kid - Cowboys

Kiko Loureiro - Tapping Into My Dark Tranquility
DJ Sammy - Heaven (Candlelight Mix) [Candlelight that is, DHT - Listen To Your Heart (Edmee's Unplugged Mix) and Cascada - Everytime We Touch (Candlight Mix) are also pretty good. Never mind the artists in the front though, only the vocals are used :)

Okay so at the moment I'm downloaded several upon several of these, and I thank you for the HUGE list to check out.

But I must admit I'm still debating with myself on adding the ballad versions of DJ Sammy/DHT/Cascada... it just annoys me that they take classics and turn them upside down...

And I'm also debating whether or not to add ATB's "No Fate." It really IS a fabulous chill out version, but not only is it a remake of Zyon's trance classic, but it sounds extremely similar to the Struggle Continues mix of Zyon's "No Fate." Still undecided... but I'm definitely adding the Zyon version.

BT's "Somnambulist" is a catchy tune (when I first heard it years ago I bought his "Emotional Technology" album right away, recommended if you like that song, the whole cd follows the same atmosphere), but its too poppy and danceable to me at the same time. I can't sit down and chill to this song as easily as I can the others.

Are you sure Massive Attack's "Craig Armstrong" is a real song? Craig Armstrong is another downbeat artist... did you download this song?

But still, I strongly endorse your chill out music tastes, so I'm downloaded all of the just the same :] Thanx!

Hi again. I personally think ATB's version is better then the original.

Also, I agree with you on what you said about BT's "Somnambulist" (simply being loved).

I found Massive Attack's - Craig Armstrong on DC++ which is their 13th track on their Greatest Hits album which for the record I can't find proof of existing. Still though, it's a great track either it's real or not. Like Aphex Twin duet with Robert Miles.

Thanks for checking them out, I endorse your music taste too. :)

Okay so I've done a little bit of studying as far as Massive Attack and Craig Armstrong are involved. Because you've officially sparked my curiosity on this matter. And you totally rock for reading my tidbit on "Rare Duet." (I'm guessing you read it)

First I went onto Discogs. I went under Massive Attack and noticed there was no Greatest Hits album in specifics.

THEN I looked up Massive Attack along with Craig Armstrong. I found three spontaneous links between the two artists. The links/songs are "Protection," "Weather Storm," and "Sly." All three songs are done by Massive Attack, but "Protection" and "Sly" are produced and arranged by Craig Armstrong. "Weather Storm" features Craig Armstrong on the piano.

Then I totally did something that surprised even myself...

I. Studied. MORE...

I googled Massive Attack and Craig Armstrong. The same similarities. THEN... I googled Massive Attack and Greatest Hits. I came up with the album Collected. It's not titled as a greatest hits album, but it features their biggest successes.

The final touch? I looked at the track listing. Track number 13? None other than "Sly." Fitting all hints and conditions I'm going to download this one. You should too, or come across it somehow and listen to it to see if it matches what you've come to know as Massive Attack's "Craig Armstrong."

... that'll be exciting. Cuz it means I'd solved a mystery.... :)

Hehe, not to put you in a sorta emberrasing spot or anything, but I never actually read what you wrote about "Rare Duet". My friend's favorite artist is Aphex Twin and he told me he knew absolutely everything there is to know about the guy. Then I mentioned his song "Rare Duet" with Robert Miles, and he assured me they never had cooperated together. Still though, it's a great track.

I have very little knowledge about Massive Attack, but after some of the tracks I've heard from them, they clearly managed to put themselves as one of my favorites. So I checked out the track "Sly" which were number 13 on their "Collected" album, and no, I can assure you, that it was not the track I was talking about. I actually found the track by browsing through DJmag.com's "Top 100 DJ Poll" where none other than David Guetta (ranked as 10) answered the simple question "What tune makes you cry?" - Raw talent in music can really make me cry. It happens with a few tracks — and it's usually a simple chord, melody or strings (like Craig Armstrong for Massive Attack). So stupid me, which was downloading all of the artist's "Tune of 2007" and "What tune makes you cry?" copied "Massive Attack Craig Armstrong" into DC++ and downloaded the first track I could find.

Considering it's probably not copyrighted I have uploaded a small sample for you http://dump.no/files/53c46152abe8/massive_attack-craig_armstrong-sample.mp3

now if you're real smart, your figure out where to get the full version ;)

By the way, I have this insane ringing in my ear at the moment, so I am trying not to listen to anything in stereo in hope of it going away. So I can't really listen to too much music :(

I listened to the sample.

No doubt about it, that's "Weather Storm." But it is NOT the original version. They've taken it to epic extremes in the sample you linked for me. Perhaps the version I have is a different version and that's the original. I'm not sure. I got the version I have now years ago on Pure Moods: Celestial Legend, and it didn't mention that it was a special version or anything (to tell the truth, I found the song quite bland). I guess I'm just gonna have to download every version I find of this song. :-/

WE'RE GETTING CLOSER THOUGH...

Indeed we are :) But like I said, if you're smart, you'll figure out where I uploaded the full version.
