I'm very glad to see that you enjoyed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I loved it, the further I get away from it, the more I desperately need to see it again.
I had a double feature of Eternal... and Dawn of the Dead last night, and I must say that the movie year hasn't started out too badly for me.
Next up? Dogville, hopefully.
Well, I'm VERY glad to hear you both enjoyed Eternal Sunshine. I was a bit unsure - the faceless critics love it, but they slurped up Adaptation quite unquestioningly also - but hearing two of my favorite critics, AJ and AAA, liked the film does get me quite a bit more excited about seeing it.
Thanks, guys!
Shalom, y'all!

Granted, I loved "Adaptation" too... :-)
I hope you enjoy "Eternal Sunshine", lbangs!
A very good review of "Fahrenheit 9/11" is available here. The review is so good because it admits that Moore is very good at provoking an emotional reaction, but analyzes the film from an intellectual standpoint. Beware, though - it contains spoilers.
I have to go and see either "Garden State" or "Napolian Dynamite" tomarrow. Which would you recommend for the person who doesn't really want to see either?
Hmm... honestly, both are very love-it-or-hate-it movies. If you're not in the mood for either, I would recommend not seeing either film. Neither would probably work if the viewer isn't receptive to them.
If I had to pick, I'd recommend that you try to find some sample of each one and see which you like better. See if you can find clips from Napoleon Dynamite or Garden State online. Both are very quirky, and if you don't go for one's style, you will probably hate them.
Or maybe not. Napoleon Dynamite is the new cult sensation among college kids, and my ranking of Garden State is easily the lowest I've seen around here. Good luck!
Did you notice the score for Troy? Usually, for me a film score is either decent and I don't notice it, or really good. But Troy score was noticeably bad. Very annoying, in fact. It's a surprise to me that such a big-budget film couldn't even muster a decent musical score.
Honestly, unless the score is really iconic (e.g. Halloween) or really unique (e.g. Punch-Drunk Love), I hardly ever find myself paying attention to it. I think of it more as one aspect that adds to the film's atmosphere, rather than a separate element to be considered on its own. So no, I didn't notice that the Troy score was particularly bad, though if I were to watch it again (which I am NOT going to do) and pay attention to it, I might agree with you.
Okay. Yeah, I don't usually notice a film's score if it's just 'decent,' like usual. But Troy's seemed noticeably poor to me.
