Author Comments:
While I've watched a few of the classic films of 1971, I've placed two of them as C's or lower. Interesting that I find both of those overrated.
C+ or higher = all movies I liked to some degree and would probably recommend
C = average
C- or lower = all movies I disliked to some degree and would probably not recommend

You should probably give "McCabe" another look. I saw it once and thought it decent, saw it again and liked it a lot, then saw it a third time and thought it might be the best thing ever.
Then you have a lot more patience than I do. :-)
My current strategy for movie-watching is to watch as many new films as possible. Once I've gotten more films under my belt, I'll return to some films I've loved and enjoy reliving them, and return to some acclaimed films I disliked and see if I've changed my mind. Don't hold your breath, though.
Well, I'll admit the first two was for a college class assignment... but the film left me with enough of a "whoa, damn" feeling that I was willing to give it a third go. (It helps that I own it -- bought for four bucks used.) In particular, I think the closing minutes are aomng the saddest ever filmed.
And I understand and share your current strategy -- hell, I've had a jones to rewatch "Fight Club" for the millionth time for about two months now, but other stuff keeps getting in the way.
