Note: Bowling for Columbine (Moore) - because I don't wish to mix narrative and documentary film, I'm not including this on my top ten. I loved this one, it is absolutely must-see.

AAA, do you happen to know if the 8 songs in 8 women were written for the film?

I was wondering that myself, since it's based on a play, I'm assuming that the songs were originally written for the stage.

I really liked some of those songs. And their performances were uniformly great.

Oh! I hadn't realized you'd seen it. It's certainly one of my favorites of the year. Just for the record, what was your favorite song, mine would be Firmine Richards's (the maid). It was pretty dazzling.

I found the following description of the music in 8 Women...

"The songs are all interpretations of famous songs from the 1960's through 1980's (along the lines of what Baz Luhrmann did with Moulin Rouge, but done with a playful tongue in cheek attitude)."

I'm assuming they mean famous French songs. :-)

Excellent! I'm very pleased to see we agree on the top film for the year. Somehow, though, I had a very strong feeling that you would love it. Wasn't Talk to Her terrific?

Shalom, y'all!

I haven't seen Talk To Her yet but I'm betting that City of God gives it a nice run for the top spot...

When does that come to video?

Freakin' soon I hope! No release date that I can find yet. It's been in the theater for a couple of weeks here.
